Am I just dreaming that I did it? Sort of scary in a way. I am either losing it, or I just plan on doing it and think that I did it already. Oh boy! I see that I haven’t written anything since Monday and this is Thursday now. I don’t even have the excuse of a busy schedule. Just a loss of remembering. Yikes!

I was dog sitting Bert for a week and he was the usual darling. I returned him to his owner this morning and he was so happy, he ran around their couch like a puppy. He was so overjoyed! He loves being with Pete and me, but he knows who his owner is and loves them to pieces. It is a delight to see a happy dog. Then in the afternoon I went over to get Maggie dog and have her visit with me for a while and a short walk. She was a happy camper as well.

Tuesday I visited my surgeon to go over my MRI results and to discuss with her what the plastic surgeon discussed. I anticipated what she might say … but she didn’t. She gave me the pros and cons about the different options for surgery, and to be honest it made me more confused to make a solid decision. I was able to view it from every angle and to have to make a decision which way to go is hard, because once under the knife and anesthesia, there is no changing the mind. I do not want to be in the place of “I wish I did this instead.” But the good thing is, I do have time to think about it since surgery is not until August 27. Being a nurse and actually working in Oncology in the past, I have seen a lot so I was able to see the possibilities of even side effects and such with whatever choice I made. Sometimes knowing more and experiencing more from the past can make it hard to know what to do–especially when I have seen the severe infections and other such risks involved in surgery. No one knows what the exact outcome of the future is going to be even with it carefully planned.

I think I have made up my mind, but I have a lady I meant to call today, but started my errands instead and forgot to call her. I will call her tomorrow. She is a cancer survivor who has gone through the reconstruction that I am planning on having. I don’t know anyone who has had this procedure, and I wanted to hear from them and get an idea of some things to expect and be aware of. You know the things that doctors don’t think about telling you about, like sensation changes, loss of feeling, pain, whatever it might be. It just would be nice to know what to expect or look for, and be aware of things that are not normal. None of this is normal in my book.

I didn’t go to the yoga class again yesterday because I think I remembered the instructor was on vacation or something like that, and yesterday I was incredibly fatigued for some reason. I guess it takes a long while to get over the chemo drugs. I am beginning to forget what it feels like to even have normal energy. I think I am doing better than a lot of people in my situation. I often push myself to do my walking even if I don’t feel like it. Being active is important and I am already out of shape. I didn’t have my support group tonight either because she was on vacation too.

Everyone is going on vacation. I would like to go on a vacation. Instead I am preparing for surgery and recovering from chemotherapy. It certainly hasn’t been a picnic. All the medical bills have sucked up our funds to prevent any big vacations anyway. I know Pete needs to have a vacation. Pete and I decided we needed to do something, and there is a special at an Inn in Cambria. We are going to stay for one night which they discount the price for locals and include one dinner and one breakfast. That is something even if it isn’t going very far. We can pretend we traveled far away. I don’t think I have the stamina anyway for a long trip as it is. It will be just right actually.

Tomorrow I go to my general practitioner to follow up on my dizzy spells and my blood pressure. My dizziness has subsided which I am very glad because that was very weird and awful. I couldn’t even walk down the street. I couldn’t walk for a week because of that.

Today, I wasn’t as tired, but I still didn’t get as much done as I would have liked. I did some more laundry, the checkbook and bills, and walked two dogs. I guess that is a lot, including cleaning the kitchen which seems to always need cleaning.

I thought I had blogged a day or two ago.
