Tuesday, I went to the Plastic Surgeon and he filled my tissue expander with saline. I asked him how many times he does that, and his response was that there is no magic number. I suspect it depends on how large the remaining breast is, or if you have a double mastectomy, then how large you eventually end up. They would need to do it gradually for the skin to expand comfortably. I would imagine if it was done all at once, it would be rather painful.<\/p>\n
He told me that this was the only time he was going to do it for now and would continue after my radiation treatments are completed. So he released me to my next section of my treatments. He told me he would converse with the Oncology Radiologist, and inform him when I would be ready. He also told me I can do range of motion exercises, and he OK’d the use of the DVD exercise tape that the Lymphodema Therapist gave me. He told me to limit my dog walking to a few minutes. That is progress none the less.<\/p>\n
A friend drove with me to Templeton and I asked if she wanted to go walking with me when I did my dog walking when we got home. So we ran home to get the key and then went to Bert’s house and walked him a short while. He was a happy camper. Just as well the walk was short. His hips are getting more painful, so short walks are better. I stayed for awhile afterwards and just visited with him and that was ever so pleasant. He is a good little guy.<\/p>\n
I was really exhausted afterwards, I think more from the drive than the walk. So I rested the rest of the day. I was glad I had leftovers, so I didn’t need to cook.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
