A Difficult Weekend

I had plans yesterday (Saturday) to go see some friends at a house warming party, but this new chemotherapy drug I started on Thursday, kicked in, and that was the end of that story. It will be better to see these people when I am well. It will just have to be one of those events to look forward to later when I am able. It is good to have some things to look forward to, something beyond this season.

The paperwork said that some of the side effects of the Taxol occur in greater than 30% of patients taking this drug. Well, I was in that percentile and the side effect that hit me is the arthralgia (joint pain), and myalgia (muscle pain). It pretty much affected my whole body, so walking and moving and just being is painful. It did say that it resolves with a few days, so that is a comfort. This too will pass, but it is not comfortable to go through. It prevented me from going to church, and I will miss seeing all my wonderful friends, but my body is dictating that I rest today. Just knowing that they are praying for me makes me feel blessed.

I was discouraged yesterday with my poor results on my ultrasound, but perhaps this newer drug will be the ticket. I will pray for a miracle too. I would be most delighted with that. It is in God’s hands.

  1. Hey Di, I’m so sad to hear about the ultrasound!! How frustrating!! And that this new drug is causing you such discomfort. Still praying though that the tumors shrink and disappear! I’m believin’ in your healin’!!

  2. His Mercies are new every morning Just reading my favorite prayer in Ephesaians 3:14-21 and praying all for you ;
    ” I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being…Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…

  3. I had the joint and muscle pain, too, but preferred it to the AC nausea, if one can prefer such a thing! You are over half way there; keep hanging in there. I’m praying the T will be more effective for you, AND for complete healing. I’m working every afternoon this week, so haven’t been able to connect except here. Been thinking of you and praying, though. Hugs!

    • I don’t do well with pain, especially when it hit my whole body. But at least it doesn’t last forever. Interestingly, I have actually been having more nausea with this one and now even my favorite foods are not appealing any more. Eating is a chore right now. I don’t think I will lose weight because I am making the effort, but it is hard. Thanks for the prayers.
