Well, I guess I was taking too many liberties with going in public. I have had a great immune system for years and don’t get ill much. The nurse at the cancer center who started me on Chemo warned me about not going to public places. But did I listen? I didn’t think I would be at risk. After all, my white count has been spot on, so I figured I had nothing to worry about.
Yesterday, I had a terrible sore throat which I figured was allergies from all the winds and my nose never stops running, so I attributed the discomfort to post nasal drip. But I was not feeling well all day on top of that, and I kept thinking that it was supposed to be a day that I usually feel better and more energy than other days. It felt like one of my down days physically. All last night I was awake because my nose was running so much, I realized that this was more than just allergies. It is acting like a cold, and I thought that I should have listened to the nurse and stayed at home where I wouldn’t have put myself at risk of a cold.
It was nice getting prayer on Sunday night, but you know, I have a prayer backing anyway and I really don’t have to go to get prayer. There are so many people praying for me everywhere, that I do not have to go out to get it and set myself up to risking catching this silly cold. Well, I learned my lesson now.
I just hope that it doesn’t delay my treatment. I called the doctor’s office to let them know and left a voice message with the nurse to let them know that I have a cold and to inform me of what medications I can take to ease the uncomfortableness. They have not returned the call, so maybe it isn’t an issue, but I would like to make sure I don’t take something that will hinder my treatment.
There are lots of activities this week and the weekend coming, but I am going to lay low. I will send Pete to enjoy all the activities. Besides getting my last rough chemo and having a cold on top of that, I don’t expect that I will be bright eyed and bushy tailed to any activities at all. Thankfully this will have an end date, and I will one day be my healthy self again. Yes! I have Bert to walk still today, so I will get some sun, but I will make sure I am covered from the wind. It will still be good to get out to walk.
Poor Honey.
Hey you,
Just wanted to say that I too have not had a cold or the flu for several years and allergies have been staying away . . . that is until this past weekend- on came a brief cold and then allergies. So just know that you were up against some strong “environmental” odds this week.
Your strong, it will all pass quickly
Susan
Yes, the allergies with the winds have been bad this year. It is the season, so not surprised. I just don’t need a cold to make me feel more weak when I already feel that way. It will pass of course.
So sorry to hear about the cold. May is the peak month for a lot of viruses that I used to see at the preschool……just before summer break, one more round of colds. I hope it passes quickly. I leave Saturday a.m. on the train to meet up with friends for the GIrlfriends 60th BIrthday Cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. I will meet Dave at his parents’ house afterwards in Escondido and we’ll drive home together on Sunday night, May 13th. Your last AC chemo! It is easier sailing from there! I’ll be thinking of you while I’m gone. See you when I get back. Prayers and hugs, Jan
I am wondering if this might be just bad allergies. I have heard the rumor that it is at it’s worst at this time. I don’t have a fever or chills, and it could be that the allergies are so bad and the combination of the chemo might be making me feel ill. I feel better today, but have a minor cough and have to maintain myself on cold medicine just so I stop the constant dripping of the nose. Quit irritating indeed!
