Difficult Week

This week was definitely the roughest. I couldn’t get past the fatigue and my muscles and joints were in a lot of pain from the medication. Yesterday on Wednesday, I finally felt somewhat better, and was able to walk my dog clients. The previous three days, I had to call upon friends to walk them for me. It has certainly been a challenge.

One week from today, will be my last chemotherapy cycle. Then after that the medical oncologist will probably order another ultrasound and an MRI. I do hope that the tumors have shrunk this time.

I saw my plastic surgeon to go over what would be the best decision for my reconstruction, so we are set on that now. I got a call this morning from that office to schedule my surgery which will be on August 13 on a Monday at Marian Regional Medical Center. My next phase of my treatments. The oncology surgeon and plastic surgeon schedule together on the same day and do their magic. Ha. At least I will have a reprieve between my chemotherapy treatments and surgery. I think the idea is to let the chemo drugs get clear from my system after I am finished with that phase of treatment to be ready for surgery. I hope I can build myself up prior to surgery.

Maybe I will even start having some hair growth although it might be a little while for that to kick in. We will see.

I actually had a funny dream a couple of weeks ago, and forgot to journal it on my blog. I was dreaming that I was talking to someone about my bald head and was standing there without any of my head gear on, totally bald. Then in the next second, I instantly grew five inches of very straight hair that was a dark gray in color. It wasn’t looking all that great, but it was funny to see hair instantly. It was incredibly soft like lamb’s wool. I am hoping it doesn’t come out gray, but I was coloring it before, so it is very likely to be so.

Today a friend is coming by, and we are going to watch a DVD of the Beth Moore study that we both missed this last Tuesday evening. I was too ill and fatigued to go and it was the first session I had missed during this time.

I am glad to be feeling better today, so maybe afterwords, I will walk Boaz and go for a long walk. It is our foggy summer out, so it isn’t warm, but maybe it will be burned off by the time we are done with the DVD lesson. I did two days of homework, so I will be on track with my lessons.

This weekend coming should be nice if I don’t have anything else arise with my health issues. There is a kid party on Saturday that I would really like to go to, so I will play it by ear as I have to anyway. I am blessed to have children that want Pete and I to attend their parties. It should be a nice affair as long as my energy holds out. I look forward to any events that I can tolerate at this juncture.

  1. I hope you do get to go to that kid party. At least they’d be fascinated by your shiny head & wig. They’d all want to shave their heads, too. They could be your “mini me”s. Laughter is good for your soul….
