I had an appointment with the podiatrist for a troublesome toe nail this morning, but I was still quite dizzy to drive myself. I had a friend take me which was a relief. The podiatrist didn’t want to do anything extensive on my toe until I was done with my treatments which will be for a while. I was hoping to have my toe taken care of between chemo and surgery, but he felt that it might be a source of infection if we did it now. Oh well. Just as well. Then I stopped at the eye doctor afterwords to have my eye checked. I think my eye was scratched by my wig hair or something, because the capillaries were broken and my eye was all red. It was checked out as OK, and I figured it would be, but I wanted it checked out since I am bruising easily and even I find cuts on myself that I don’t know how that happened. While I was waiting for the doctor to see me, another doctor came who is an old friend, and I filled him in on how I was doing. He was concerned to hear my story, and it was nice to update him and just to chat with him. Absolutely everyone knows someone who has gone through cancer treatment.
I needed to do a couple of other errands, and it was nice that my friend, Donna helped me get around to do those things since I didn’t feel secure driving with my head feeling like it was spinning. I feel good otherwise, but it is quite a bother. After we did my errands, we went to lunch/late breakfast on the Embarcadero. It was nice to go out and chat and enjoy a meal out.
I continued to be dizzy all day and didn’t get my walk in because of it. I feel like I am getting out of shape, but I really didn’t want to be walking around if there was a chance I might fall. This evening I am actually less dizzy, so I hope that means I am on the mend. I am going to say that I am now progressing. When I get up in the morning will be the test to see if I am getting over this puzzling light headedness and/or dizziness.
I have nothing on the schedule for tomorrow, so I want to do some painting and if it isn’t foggy, a little yard work. I feel like I am so unproductive these days. I know that shouldn’t be important since I am recovering from chemotherapy and it most likely takes a while to get over the effects. I have no frame of reference since I have never gone through this before and hopefully this will be the last I have to experience this. I hope to help others that go through this because I find it very helpful and supportive knowing others have gone through it and survived all the after effects. This is indeed a life changing experience. When I have asked others of their experience and hear their stories, everyone has a different story to tell, and a different treatment plan. Absolutely every case is so very individual depending on so many factors of the cancer and type and so on.
Well on to bed for me. I really want a dizzy free day tomorrow, so we shall see. Right now I am not dizzy, so I am hopeful.
Hang in there! Better days are coming. I’m praying against the dizziness. Hugs…..
Better days are on their way. I know all of these things are temporary. I do look forward to feeling better soon.
Hi Diane, just wanted to tell you when I get dizzy with my allergies, I take ginger and it really helps, you can buy the capsules at a health food store, or eat or cook with ginger root, praying you feel better, Love, Judy
Thanks for the tip, Judy. I haven’t really found that ginger has helped me. I have actually been sensitive to ginger while on chemo at this season, but will give it a try in the future for sure. I am willing to try anything for allergies. This dizziness hasn’t seemed to be of allergy origin, but who knows. I am thinking it is leftovers from the chemo because it was listed as one of the side effects, but there are so many things that mimic the same symptoms. My dizziness has finally settled down yesterday and today, so I am hoping this is the end of it all. Thanks again for the tip, and I will try it in the future for my allergies.
