It has been hard to sit and journal this week! I have been struggling with post-anesthesia nausea and pain, so I have been trying to balance that. With my sister and her husband here too, I get distracted from the time (not their fault because I just get distracted easily), so I have to record the times when I take my medicines because I don’t remember with the foggy drug brain. I feel so much better when I take the anti-nausea medications and pain pills routinely rather than wait until I am hurting so much.
I even get distracted when trying to sit down and respond to my emails and Facebook inquiries–which I am severely behind on. The phone will ring, or someone comes, or Pete, Sue or Steve will ask me a question, and then I forget that I was working on my email. Pretty pathetic I guess. Ha. Well, I have all the time in the world right now, so I guess it isn’t critical that much gets done at a certain time. As long as I get to my appointments, medications, and am ready for the home health nurse or get my dressings and wound care done, I am doing good.
As I write this, I am waiting for the home health nurse to visit. I have a little ‘pain pump’ line going into my back where a muscle was moved for my reconstruction; the pump may be removed at a follow-up appointment Tuesday unless there is still medicine left in the container. I can’t tell if it is empty or not. It is not a clear container, but it has physically shrunk as it has been emptying. It isn’t flat yet, but it doesn’t look like anything is in there either. I will let the home health nurse figure it out. They didn’t have these type of containers when I was nursing in the hospital, so it is new to me. There have been incredible changes from the time I started nursing in 1975.
You WILL get your brain back, don’t despair! Been there, and am thinking of you.
Hugs, Jan
Thank you Janis. Hugs back. I probably won’t do yoga class this week. Ha.
