I was really expecting to feel better and better each day! Yesterday I was doing pretty well, and so I decided that I would go to the ladies breakfast at church. I hid my two drains in a fanny pack and no one even noticed them. I had a cute hat on, and a shirt dress with tights and my potato pearls on. I was looking good and feeling good at 8:30 in the morning. Pete dropped me off.
The breakfast was great. I noticed that there was more healthy food choices for the brunch this morning, and even without cheese and milk. It was nice to have more choices to choose from. It really makes it hard when a person is lactose intolerant to go to pot luck brunches that have quiches and egg dishes with cheese. It really limits what I can eat. But it turned out great! The worship was sweet, and Debbie was the speaker for this month. She is so talented in her speaking skills, but she is also so gifted in how she shares treasures from the scriptures. Loved it!
But after a while I started hurting, and not just a little discomfort. I took some Ibuprofen this morning rather than the Percocet because I really wanted to be clear headed to socialize and be able to concentrate on the speaker. That was the first pain medicine I had since 11:30 pm last night. Every time I would move or try to take notes, I got stabbing pains. I tried to concentrate really hard to listen and ignore the pain. I so wanted to hear the whole lesson because it was so excellent, but I started to realize I was just having too much pain. I needed to go home and now!
I got my phone out to text Pete to come get me because I was done even though the meeting was not, but before I dialed, I looked across the room, and a wonderful lady was motioning and mouthing to me. I could understand her saying “do you want me to drive you home?” I just nodded, and we left as discretely as we could and she drove me home. I felt bad that my friend Nancy missed the end of what Debbie was teaching, but she responded and told me that this was what she would rather do. I am thinking what a wonderful servant’s heart she has. I was blessed that she saw my need before I even asked, and brought me home. She is an angel in disguise!
The rest of the day I was playing catch-up with the pain and dozing off and on in the recliner, but as evening approached I finally started feeling better. I think going that long without pain medicine was really not a good idea. I decided that if I wake up in the middle of the night and get up to the bathroom, I will take something for pain as well. It wasn’t worth feeling like this all day.
Tomorrow is church, and after today I sort of decided not to go, but then this evening I reconsidered, and decided that I could at least go for a short time and just sit in the back and leave early. I think some activity is vital, but to sit too long would not be wise. So I will just go for a little while, but then leave early to take care of my body. The little bit of seeing people and some worship is good. People will understand totally if they see me leave early.
Sounds like you have angels all around these days. 🙂 Take care!
Indeed! God is taking care of me!
