Getting Ready for Mom

This week actually went fast. I didn’t mean to let so much time go by before writing. I got to walk Bert three times this week, and I love the little guy so much that it made my week. I am still recovering from my surgery so we are not walking as long, but Bert will go with anything. I just make up the time with visiting with him and he is good with whatever I give him. He is a good fellow.

Pete re-posted my advertising on Craigslist, so I have been getting calls this week from potential clients. I did gain one, so I am pleased. I should be able to do more work even though I am going to be starting radiation treatments in 3 to 4 weeks. I have heard that the side effect is fatigue, but that shouldn’t detour doing a little work. The dogs and cats give me a lift for the day and make me happy.

My mother-in-law, Cass will be coming to stay for a visit starting this next Sunday, so I have been getting things ready. I even got a library book for her to read since it wasn’t available at her library, so we will get some reading time in as well. I hope that I will feel up to doing some baking while she is here and make some sourdough bread. That shouldn’t be too hard if I do the kneading with my mixer. I have the tools to make it easier.

I have several doctor visits and appointments next week, but she said she doesn’t mind going along with me, so we will make it a fun outing when we do.

Yesterday on Thursday, was Pete and my anniversary of 37 years. We met in college and that was that. We were inseparable from then on. Pete took the day off for us to spend the day together, so he got to walk Bert with me. We decided to take Bert on an outing and took him to the Cloisters. It is a short walk there, but something different. Bert loved it. It was indeed a good outing.

Then we went to dinner at Windows On The Water. They always have wonderful food there. I had halibut and Pete had lamb. His unfortunately was tough but still delicious, but mine was incredibly wonderful. I was glad to have ordered that. There was even live music that evening which was perfect.

Today, Friday, I had to rest. It caught up to me. I had been doing my DVD of exercises daily to loosen my muscles and increase my range of motion. It has helped decrease my pain as well. I have been using less pain pills because of the stretches. But today I was very tired with all the activities of the week. I was out two nights in a row and I haven’t done that in a long time. I needed to recoup today. So it was a reading day.

I did get two visitors this afternoon, so it broke up the day. I enjoyed it and they didn’t stay long which was smart. I am still recovering, so short visits are in order and I still get to see people.
