Pretty Good End of May

I had a pretty good week. A little queasy and I tired easily, but still was pretty good. My visit with my sister and brother-in-law was very nice and I was very glad for the visit. Seems most of anything I do these days fatigues me, but I know that it will soon be over.

I had my second chemotherapy with the Taxol today and discussed my difficulties with this one with the doctor, so we have some other remedies I am going to use, and hope that it will be the ticket. I have just two more treatments after this, so the count down is on. Afterwords, I will be having another ultrasound and a MRI to check on the progress of my tumors. The doctor has confidence that this drug will shrink it. I have my trust in God to be pulling me through this, and that He has directed me to a team of doctors that will help me through this journey.

I need to call the plastic surgeon to get the surgery plans in motion and have another visit with him. That needs to be done to get the pre-approval again with the insurance and for him to schedule surgery with the oncology surgeon. They are both very busy surgeons and to schedule things together can be a challenge; so it has to be done early enough to prevent delays later.

Tomorrow I return to the oncology office to get my subcutaneous injection, and then a fun lunch out with my friend. Today we couldn’t go out to lunch because the infusion was about 5 hours long like the last time; so this time I made us almond butter sandwiches with banana slices on whole wheat bread, and some yummy almond butter health balls that a friend made for me. She had dropped them off before my treatment this morning. It was almond butter day I guess. I got my protein for sure.

I have been struggling all week with loss because the BFFM Summer Challenge launches this week and I am unable to take part in it again this year. Five of my friends formed a team this time and it would have been SO FUN! But I just can’t do the weight training after my surgery and I just do not have the strength yet. I am sad about that. It is a goal now deferred, and this is a direction God has me going through right now.

But the upside: today I met a lot of strangers and was able to connect with them because of my cancer! Everyone has family members or knows someone with cancer.

One lady we have met a couple of times just told me that “you both are strong.” It is the Grace of God.
