Getting Anxious

For the last couple of weeks and including today, I have been having increasing anxiety. I was really surprised how much–especially more so than when I went through chemotherapy. It is like the closer surgery gets, the more anxiety I have been feeling. Not a good feeling I must say.

This morning, I had my pre-op visit with my plastic surgeon, and of course you read all the possible things that can go wrong and the risks and such. It really made me feel a bit more anxious. Even when you know it is rare, the doctors still have to inform you of every possible situation that could occur. When he came in to talk to me, he was very casual and calm. He projected an air of confidence that was actually calming in effect, and I really felt my anxiety level start to lower. I am sure he learned that technique just to waylay anxiety in patients. At least it worked for me at that moment!

I was really feeling better, but as the day progressed, I started feeling anxious again. I really felt like a good walk was in order, and Pete suggested going to see if we could walk Bert. So we walked down to his house and his owner, Jean let us take him for a short walk down to Sweet Springs. Bert was so happy to see us! It did help a lot just to get out and walk and get some dog therapy (Thanks again, Jean).

A friend called while we were walking and wanted to come visit in the evening, so that was a much needed visit as well. She prayed for me and I think the fellowship and the peace of God was the medicine much needed.
