Today, Sunday, I needed to drive down to Santa Maria again to Marian Hospital to have my blood drawn for a type & cross for preparation for blood transfusion (only if needed). I probably won’t need it, but it needs to be ready never the less. I went down with my friend Sally and we made an outing of it, and had a wonderful breakfast at a cafe in Pismo, then drove down to the hospital in Santa Maria. Since it is a Catholic hospital, the lab technician after she drew my blood, asked if I would like her to pray for me. I was delighted. Nice to know that people in the hospital are praying for me. I was very pleased.
I had been full of anxiety off and on all week, but today, I am feeling fine and peaceful. It was good to make the day into a play day, and after Sally and I left the hospital we went to Penny’s to return something and just walked around. I didn’t buy anything, but it was nice to have the diversion. We made one more stop to New Frontiers and had some fresh juice. When I got home, another friend and her husband invited us to come over and walk with them and her dogs, so we took that opportunity. I needed a little exercise and it is always nice to join a friend or two. The dogs were happy to see us too.
The rest of today I rested, and packed just the minimal stuff that I need to take to the hospital. I don’t really need much but a good book, and my toothbrush and face cream. I will probably be too groggy to read anyway, but just in case I will be ready if I am not able to sleep.
I will be in the hospital for overnight at least, with possibly a two night stay depending on my tolerance to fluids and pain medications. I hope I only need to stay one night, so we will have to see how I fair.
I anticipate that all will go well, and with so many people praying for me, I have not doubt I will do well. It is especially comforting to know that the staff prays for their patients and they really do care. I know I am in good hands. I will probably not blog for a couple of days, but maybe Pete will blog for me. I will probably be occupied with my recovery and grogginess. I will do well regardless. [Pete’s note: I’ll post here and on Facebook later this week.]
