Tuesday I went down to Santa Barbara with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We took the train down, so it was wonderful to travel and rest at the same time. I was able to enjoy some beautiful scenery while listening to my audio book on the ride down. My friend Julie caught up some on her rest, too.
It was an absolutely beautiful day! I was glad I was feeling better and not severely fatigued like I had been for so long. It was a long day and we were both tired at the end, but it was a normal tired. A good tired. We walked around the pier, enjoyed seeing all the people, had a lovely lunch at Natural Cafe, window shopped, and rode the trolley up the street. We thought about renting bikes or getting a surrey to ride, but we ended up not doing that. It looked like a lot of fun. Maybe next time around. There were people kayaking in the water, which I have only done once, but enjoyed it very much. Pete and I did that last year. It was so wonderful to be able to do something outside of doctor’s appointments or treatments. Another mini vacation.
We decided that this is definitely something to do again. Mental health days. A break from the stress of everyday life. I felt blessed to be able to do something special on a friend’s birthday. She said she was in heaven and had much joy. We are indeed blessed to live in such an area in the world.
Today I had an appointment with my medical Oncologist, but the office called just before I was about to leave. The doctor had an emergency, so now I am rescheduled to see the Physician’s Assistant on Friday. I have met him before, so I know he can order what I am supposed to have and give me the result of the MRI. I already know the results, but it would have been nice to hear her opinion as well as all the other doctors. I am already decided what I will do, but I still wanted to hear her opinion. Maybe it is better to not get even more confused. Ha.
Tomorrow, two friends of mine that I haven’t seen for a long time are coming to visit. They are both R.N.s too, and we worked at Arroyo Grande at the same time. We all oriented at the same time and worked together for a few years. It will be wonderful to see them again.
