Fifth Day of Radiation. Lots of Dogs.

Friday was my fifth radiation day, and so far it seems OK. I have been applying cream often to keep the skin moisturized which is included in the after-care instructions that they give you. There are other instructions as well, so I will adhere to it as best I can.

I have been struggling with a raging low back pain, and even my extremities were aching too. It has been all week like that and I was thinking that I may have sat too long in one position or over stretched or something of that nature. But then I reviewed the side effects of Femara that I have to take for five years to reduce estrogen production in my body.

I called my Medical Oncologist’s office to run it by them and told the gal in the office that I have been hurting for a whole week, and started to wonder if maybe it might be a side effect rather than just back issues. The gal asked me why I didn’t call sooner in the week because on Fridays the doctors are not in and they actually close early on Fridays. I told her that I had assumed it was from past back issues and thought about it rather late. So they conversed and probably called the doctor on call, because when they called me back she told me to stop taking it for three days and see how I feel on Tuesday, and then to called her back to let her know how I feel.

It is always something I guess. If it does end up being the medication, I suppose I will be put on something else to try. We will see. Anyway, I don’t have time now to deal with that, and need to function with my pet service which I have five pet clients this weekend that are requiring our time (Pete is taking care of Tango bird). I find it not fun to walk with severe back pain. I hope it will correct itself.

This weekend, I am taking care of Bert, Rudy, and Maggie. Bert and Rudy are staying at my house, and I walk over to Maggie’s house to do her care. I have actually brought Maggie over to hang out with use and the other dogs, so she doesn’t have to be by herself during the day. It is really hot today, and our house is much cooler than her yard. We took a very long walk with all three dogs this morning, Saturday, and pooped all of us out. It is such a beautiful day! And tonight I go sit with a new client, Bella.

A friend invited us to join them for lunch in Morro Bay at the health food store, and we split a lovely salad. We took Bert and Rudy with us and we all sat outside to enjoy our warm, late summer weather.

We are so blessed to live here on the Central Coast!
