Today, Friday was my 15th treatment of radiation. It really is going by quickly. I asked the radiology technician how many total I will have, and she looked at my chart and said 28 total, and then the doctor usually orders a “booster”, which would be five to seven more treatments. She said that it was pending. Once a week they take x-ray pictures, so I guess whatever the doctor sees with those, is the determining factor.
When I went in and changed into my gown for my treatment, I accidentally lost an earring. We looked all over, and I found the backing right away, but they promised that they would keep an eye out. It wasn’t an expensive earring, but they were cute. When I got home, and was walking on the linoleum, I heard a tapping while I was walking. It was like tap shoes. I looked on the bottom of my athletic shoe, and there was my earring! Stuck on the bottom of my shoe like at tack. I couldn’t feel it on my shoe because of my Neuropathy from the chemotherapy that is still lingering. I was glad I found my earring, and I called the radiology office to let them know.
I am still taking care of Bella, and tonight gained Maggie. I just go and feed her and Jetta the cat twice a day with a walk or two. Pete went over there this evening to put her to bed. It makes for a busy week with doggie care and going into town daily for radiation.
I have been struggling with lack of sleep since I have been at Bella’s house, because she is needy at night and up and down with whining. I have been incredibly exhausted. I know radiation causes fatigue, but I think this has been the dog. I have been struggling with diarrhea and today felt dizzy. It was getting worse today, so I looked at the side effects of the medication I am taking. I am experiencing all of the side effects including difficulty sleeping. I called the doctor on call, and he didn’t think it was the medication, but a virus. I don’t think he is correct because I haven’t been having a temperature. But then if I haven’t been sleeping for over a week, perhaps I did catch something. I hope to sleep tonight. One of the side effects of radiation is a lower immune system as well. I have to be so careful these days.
Yesterday I went for my second acupuncture treatment, and I do believe it is really helping my low back pain. I am so glad of that! It is amazing that something like that helps. The acupuncturist said he could help my sleep and the Neuropathy as well. Time will tell.
I am glad to be busy, but I look forward to a good nights sleep. I hope it will be tonight.
