Yesterday, on Wednesday, I went to my usual daily radiation treatment, and the machine was making weird clicking and thumping noises. It was also taking longer than usual for my treatment. The technician came into the room and she said for me to bear with her because there was a problem with the communication with the machine. Instead of my treatment taking only 20 minutes, it ended up being over 40 minutes with an incomplete treatment.
She told me at the end that I would not lose out on my treatment, but it would be added onto another day at the end and that I would not have to come in on an extra day. It was rather disconcerting to have this huge machine that rotates around at different angles to be making noises that definitely sounded like it was malfunctioning. Especially in light of a machine that delivers radiation… I am thinking that what if I am being radiated in more places than I am supposed to have radiated. Probably not, but it did cross my mind nonetheless.
After all that was done, I didn’t feel like doing anymore errands afterwards, so I went home to rest. That evening, we did go to our home group study, and it was nice to feel well enough to go be with some friends even though I was a bit tired.
