This third chemo really knocked me for a loop. I was down three days on the weekend through Monday, and even yesterday I felt weak and needed a friend to drive me to my dog client to go walk him. My friend, Alice walked with Bert and myself, and it rained lightly, but steadily on us, but you know, it was very enjoyable to walk in the rain. I had a jacket for such occasions of rain, so my upper body stays warm and dry. The dog didn’t care that he was getting soaked and looked so happy. It was actually a warm rain, and it was so pleasant to walk in the rain. I absolutely loved it.
Even though I started the day feeling weak and not sure I could walk far, it was invigorating, and I actually felt better just getting out even though it was raining on us. My pet service is such a therapy for me, I am glad I am doing that now. If I was still working as an RN (I still have my license), I would not have been able to work with this kind of fatigue, or do such heavy work. (Yes, RN’s do heavy lifting.) I feel like it was a divine set-up for my retirement job of pet services just for a time as today. I feel blessed to have a fun job that is helping me physically and mentally.
