Something Completely Different

I was going to do the range of motion DVD again and commit to daily use, but decided that I shouldn’t overdo it for the first time. I will do it tomorrow and increase my activity gradually. Safer that way.

I got to walk Bert again and made sure we both didn’t go too long and then visited with him a bit with scratches and pets which he didn’t complain about at all. He is a good fellow.

Then a friend of mine treated me to a very belated birthday present and we both had a pedicure. I loved it! I had never done that before. I always did my own nails and never really did a very good job, but I figured no one would stoop down to look at the bad job I did with my nail polish. With the pedicures they soak your feet and then massage your legs and feet. Very nice indeed!

The lady who did my toes wasn’t too sure what to do with my right big toe which no longer had a nail. They didn’t speak English very well, and I was explaining to her that I had it removed because it was so deformed, and it didn’t heal well because of the chemotherapy I just got finished with. I don’t think she understood what I said. So she actually asked me if I still wanted color on the toe which I said no, and she did put a band-aid on it since that was all that could be done. I could tell she felt bad about it because she did also ask me if it had pain which it does often. My friend told me that some places will make a fake toe nail that you can glue on, but my toe was not up to that. The other toes are all pretty with a vibrant red color I picked.

I went through most of the day taking only Ibuprofen for my pain, hoping that I wouldn’t need the stronger stuff, but the late afternoon when I got home, it finally caught up with me. I was almost beside myself with discomfort and wondered how I was going to get through the rest of the evening. We were invited for dinner at our friends house, and I was playing catch up with the pain medicine. It did finally kick in just before it was time to go, so I was in seeing things in a better light by then. I was glad because it was wonderful fellowship and a lovely fish dinner. For dessert was homemade applesauce that was still warm. Yum! No sugar needed because the apples were sweet enough on their own.
